New Installation Fee
A fee for new installations applies to all plumbing work carried out for a new building or an extension to an existing building. The amount payable will be based on the number fixtures to be installed as part of the installation plus GST.
A fixture is a receptacle designed to collect and discharge wastewater or other waste into sanitary or drainage plumbing. Therefore basins, water closets, baths, showers, sinks and laundry troughs are all considered to be fixtures for the purposes of determining the amount of the new installation fee payable.
Where there are two or more receptacles and those receptacles discharge through one fixture trap, such as a double bowled kitchen sink, for the purposes of determining the amount of the new installation fee payable the receptacles are to be treated as one fixture.
Where there is more than one plumbing contractor responsible for work being carried out in a new building or extension to an existing building the fee for new installations is to be paid by the licensed plumbing contractor responsible for the installation of the fixtures.
The fee for new installations is:
Plumbing work involving 9 or less fixtures $60.00 (plus GST)
Plumbing work involving more than 9 fixtures $60.00 plus
$10.00 for each fixture
more than 9 (Plus GST)
Where there is an existing arrangement that builders pay, in advance, fees associated with a new plumbing installation, the fees are paid directly to the Plumbers Licensing Board. If the builder pays fees in advance, the licensed plumbing contractor will need to ensure that a copy of the receipt for the payment or the receipt number is provided to the Board with the notice of intention for the work.
