Current Plumbing Work Laws

Part 5A of the Water Services Licensing Act 1995 establishes the Board with functions related to the licensing of plumbers, to provide for regulation making powers in respect of the Board, licensing matters and the carrying out of plumbing work and to make related provisions.

The Water Services Licensing (Plumbers Licensing and Plumbing Standards) Regulations 2000 (the Regulations) specify the kind of water supply plumbing, sanitary plumbing or drainage plumbing that is plumbing work for the purposes of the Regulations.

The Australian/New Zealand Standard for plumbing and drainage (AS/NZS 3500:2003) applies to all such plumbing work carried out with certain modifications, to suit Western Australian building and plumbing conditions, after 12:00 am Sunday, 1 July 2007.
