Geraldton Industry Forum
The Plumbers Licensing Board held its second regional Technical Forum for the calendar year in Geraldton on 23 June 2009. The Board’s representatives at the forum were Phil Payne, PLB Manager, Mike Read, the Technical Education and Training Standards Officer, and Board Deputy Chairperson Chris Jones. Invitations were issued to all Licensed Plumbing Contractors, Tradespersons, Restricted Plumbing Permit holders and plumbing supply providers in the region. 28 licensees took up the invitation to attend.
The event was held at the Ocean Centre Hotel, corner Foreshore Drive & Cathedral Avenue, Geraldton. Some of the major topics under discussion were:
- the Board’s continual support of the industry and its members;
- the protection of standards for plumbers and the community;
- the monitoring of levels of education and training;
- the appointment of the Board’s second Regional Technical Compliance Officer;
- the appointment of a new Board member;
- an assessment of the recently launched Technical Note on Air Admittance Valves; and
- the proposed Miscellaneous Technical Note on boundary traps, 40mm traps, backflow prevention and vacuum sewer connections.
Attendees provided feedback via a response survey to enable the Board to continue to tailor these events to give the best possible service to its stakeholders.
